Change your mind about wireless streaming
You may believe that streamers are convenient but cannot deliver optimal sound quality. Devialet Air will change your mind. Devialet is the first high end audio company to develop a completely genuine and uncompromised wireless solution. It does not use an Apple Airport base unlike most existing streamers. Again, both hardware and software have been developed from scratch over the past two years as we were unsatisfied by the quality of existing solutions:
- no Airport base limitations (no HD) or software processing (re-sampling)
- no poor clocking information transmitted (jitter), only the raw music data file (asynchronous protocol)
- no altering software processing inside the Media Player or the computer: the music is played inside the D-Premier
Devialet AIR fully benefits from the synergies offered by the end-to-end design of the D-Premier. Your Wi-Fi network becomes the shortest and purest path from your music files all the way to the speakers: no analog path otherwise bringing noise and distortion, no synchronous digital link otherwise bringing jitter.
How does it work ?
Our free native application is required to play Devialet AIR. Once installed on the computer, it monitors "backstage" what your media player is doing and interacts accordingly with the D-Premier. Consider your media player becomes a simple controller since Devialet AIR bypasses all current media processing of your software. Music files are divided into multiple data packets and sent in identical, parallel flows to your D-Premier. The streaming module inside the unit then reconstructs the music file and plays it internally. For the first time in Audio, the entire streaming process from the computer to the amplifier is managed and synchronized by the DAC’s internal Master Clock with extreme precision, eliminating any jitter source by design.
Devialet AIR’s transmission protocol is based on the Wi-Fi 802.11n standard; it incorporates multiple backup techniques in order to preserve the integrity and continuity of the data flow. No need for a dedicated network, you can use your home Internet Wi-Fi: buffering is constantly optimized, streaming starts instantaneously and remains robust at all times.
Music playback sounds very natural, balanced and "aerial". Basses are deeper, and better defined. Trebles are pure and neutral. Hear by yourself, you get the best possible audio source.

The initial release of the Devialet AIR Application works with:
- iTunes (as a library browser) on Mac or PC
- up to CD resolution (RedBook 44.1 kHz / 16 bits)
- Wide range of formats: uncompressed PCM formats (WAV, AIFF), lossless codecs (ALAC, FLAC), lossy codecs (AAC, some MPEGs)
An upgrade of the Application (Q1 2012) will support all lossless and lossy formats and expand resolution to 96 kHz / 24 bits.

Since a Wi-Fi "door" has been opened in the D-Premier, many new features are made possible to enjoy and control the D-Premier from a distant Application on the computer or an iPad (repeat D-Premier's display, real-time
configuration, ...).

Activating your
Wi-Fi board
D-Premier software upgrade
Download the latest Devialet Software for D-Premier.
Note: In order to use one SD-Card to upgrade more than one DPremier, the SD-Card should be write-protected (using the side latch) before upgrading.
Streamer application installation
- • Download on your computer the Devialet AIR streamer software Mac or PC version.
- • Use the appropriate version depending on your computer.
- • On Mac: drag «Devialet AIR.app» into the Application folder. And you are done.
- • On PC: double-click on the downloaded file. Launch the installation
Wi-Fi network configuration
Use Devialet online Configurator to set up your Wi-Fi connection.
Getting started
- • Switch on your newly hardware and software-upgraded D-Premier.
- • Change the source to AIR and wait for the source name to change from orange to grey:
your amp is ready to play streamed music. - • Launch the Streamer application.
- • Wait for the Devialet icon to change from grey to black: your computer is ready to stream music.
- • Use your media player the way you usually do to play files on your computer and enjoy your D-Premier!
Without quitting the Devialet AIR application, you can switch between music streamed to your D-Premier (iTunes output is muted) or music played locally: in the toolbar Menu, select "Disable Streaming".
- Open Devialet AIR status Opens the informative streaming process Devialet AIR window.
- Logo Devialet logo turns black when this streamer is connected to a D-Premier. It remains faded if it isnʼt connected.
- Disable StreamingUnselects any active device.
- D-Premier namesIndicates, among the constantly updated list of devices, strength of the connection with each device and which one is playing. If a device is playing music from another streamer, a «Busy» indicator is added to the name: you may select it but not streamed music will play while it is «busy».
- Launch at startupDe-activates the default setting that lets Devialet AIR automatically turn on at computer startup.
- Title of the window “Devialet AIR: My D-Premier”: shows which device Devialet AIR is connected to.
- iTunes Control Shows the current album artwork, the name of the track, and whether it is playing or stopped.
- Streaming Status
- Music Buffer Indicates the fill ratio of the buffer.
- Speed adjustment Indicates the streaming speed adjustment to match the DAC Master Clock.
- Music integrity Indicates bit-perfectness of the music sent to the DAC.
- Data Recall Rate Ratio of packets re-transmitted in the last track and network quality indicator.
- Wi-Fi strength in DPremier Signal strength as seen by D-Premier.
