On December 2011, Devialet launches the 5.5 software upgrade
of D-Premier, and proves again that Devialet software can enhance sound
quality, efficiency and comfort of use. On top of that, 5.5 runs AIR,
exclusive HD Asynchronous Wi-Fi Streamer, the best possible audio
source ever.
Sound Quality
The power-supply software has been entirely redesigned to be more responsive and more accurate. Music is made of transients, which, in order to be properly reproduced, require high reactivity and great dynamic range. Based on this assumption, the 5.3 upgrade almost triples the peak power, leaping from 800W to 2100W, while increasing the level of detail.
The cornerstone of Devialet’s technology, the ADH core software, has been perfected to improve thermal efficiency (-10°C). Overload mechanisms and error handling have also been improved.
The 5.5 software upgrade ensures more peak power with low impedance loudspeakers and increases the data processing bit depth from 32 to 40bits, floating point, for even more transparent path.
Comfort
It’s now possible to display on D-Premier’s screen a multitude of useful information on what is going on inside your amp, such as the sampling rate by pressing the source button for a few seconds, or your software version and many other statistics by pressing the invert button.
The 5.5 upgrade addresses issues with advanced configuration in dual-mono mode, fixes minor bugs and improves the ease of use.
New Functionalities
New functionalities have been added to transform the D-Premier into a truly configurable, customizable, and endlessly improving platform. In order to enable D-Premier owners to take full advantage of all the possibilities offered by their amp, the 5.3 upgrade will make the amp compatible with the Configurator, our intuitive online customization tool.
The upgrade will also provide new daisy-chaining possibilities: dual-mono (400W per unit, audio performances are doubled); bi/multi-amp modes (with/without active filtering); multi-room modes; up to 8 D-Premiers chained (automatic delay compensation).
The 5.5 upgrade makes the D-Premier compatible with AIR the Devialet HD Asynchronous Wi-Fi streamer.
"I did the OS upgrade (very simple to do!) and I am amazed that it still got better. Even better bass make the music more complete - but it makes evaluating the sound more difficult because one is focusing instead on the music performance.

How to upgrade
your software
1 - Check your software version
- • Your amp must be in standby.
- • Press “invert” on your remote for a few seconds.
- • If SW reads 4.8, 5.1, 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5.0 it is time to upgrade your D-Premier’s software.
- • If your amp has a serial number <100, please contact your dealer who will schedule a manual, preliminary upgrade. This will no longer be necessary in the future.
2 - If you are driving the 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5.0 software, on your computer
- • Insert your SD card.
- • Download the 5.5.2 software from our website.
- • Unzip.
- • Copy all included files to your SD Card
- • On the SD card, delete all files with previous versions of the software
3 - On your Devialet D-Premier
- • Unplug your Devialet D-Premier.
- • Insert the SD Card into its dedicated slot.
- • Plug in your D-Premier.
- • Launch the upgrade of your Devialet D-Premier by pressing the front D-button for 4 seconds.
- • Then check the automatic process on your D-Premier screen.
- • “Upgrade Successful”: your integrated amplifier is now driving the latest software.
